Nartan Academy of Dance is proud to present DARPANA: Ek Itihaas – Reflections of the History of India, its most ambitious production yet.

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Lied Center of Kansas in Lawrence, KS, nearly 100 students and a live orchestra will bring India’s rich history to life through dance. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Safehome, supporting those in need in the local community.

About Nartan Academy of Dance

Nartan Academy of Dance was founded in Overland Park, KS in 1998 by Ritu Daga, who began her own training in Bharatanatyam at age five under Guru Smita Shastri in Ahmedabad before completing her arangetram and earning the degree of Nritya Tirtha. Since establishing Nartan, Daga has trained generations of Kansas City students in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, with 105 students completing their arangetrams and two completing their Rangapravesam. Nartan has performed at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and for Asha Foundation charity events, and has helped bring SPICMACAY, the Carnatic Music Association, and Alap programming to the Kansas City area.
