On Sunday, October 11th, 2026, the Kansas City Bengali Association invites you and your family to gather at Heritage Park Shelter 1 for an early morning celebration that honors this cherished Bengali tradition. Beginning at 10:00 AM, the day unfolds with the recitation of Chandi Path, a powerful invocation of the divine feminine, followed by the stirring musical rendering of “Mahisasuramardini”—the tale of the Goddess’s triumph over darkness.
After this spiritual opening, attendees will enjoy a sumptuous Bengali brunch, bringing community members together over shared food and conversation. Whether you’re a lifelong observer of Mahalaya or exploring this tradition for the first time, this is a welcoming space to connect with the Bengali community and mark the countdown to Durga Puja. The celebration runs until 1:30 PM, giving families time to participate in a way that works for them. Best of all, this KCBA-sponsored event is completely free—a gift from the community to the community.
