KCTCA 9th Annual Bonalu Celebration – A Grand Success
The Kansas City Telangana Cultural Association (KCTCA) proudly celebrated its 9th Annual Bonalu Festival on Saturday, August 2, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Heritage Park.The event was a remarkable success, bringing together nearly 500 devotees and community members from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to celebrate the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of Telangana.
The festivities began with the magnificent preparation of Sri Mahankali Ammavaaru, where a live tree was beautifully adorned with turmeric, traditional sarees, and exquisite jewelry, creating a divine and breathtaking appearance that made it feel as though Mahankali Ammavaaru herself had manifested to bless all the devotees. The sacred ambiance immediately filled the venue with devotion and joy.
A heartfelt appreciation goes to Nikhil, Sreeja Boga, Mahathi, and Sreepoola, who devoted countless hours to preparing Ammavaaru and organizing all the arrangements for the Bonam Naivedyam and Bonalu Pooja. Their dedication ensured that every ritual was performed with authenticity and reverence.
More than 12 Bonams were lovingly prepared and brought by devotees as offerings to Sri Mahankali Ammavaaru. Hundreds of devotees participated in offering Bonam, Harathi, and performing Pradakshinam around Ammavaaru with immense faith and devotion. Throughout the evening, traditional Bonalu devotional songs echoed across the venue, creating an atmosphere that truly transported everyone back to the vibrant Bonalu celebrations of Telangana by Telanagana & Telugu community.
The well-organized arrangements by the KCTCA Executive Committee, along with the continued support and contributions of past leadership teams, were highly appreciated by all attendees.
During the event, Smt. Bindu Latha reflected on KCTCA’s inspiring journey and its impact on the Telangana community. She shared that KCTCA has served as a platform that has united Telangana families, nurtured community leaders, and inspired numerous service initiatives benefiting people back home. She emphasized that KCTCA believes in creating leaders, not followers, and warmly welcomed passionate individuals to join the organization in serving the community. She also expressed her appreciation for the dedication and contributions of both the past and present leadership teams in strengthening the organization over the years.
The cultural segment was gracefully hosted by Emcee Renuka, whose energetic presentation and engaging announcements kept the audience captivated throughout the evening. She beautifully introduced the children’s devotional performances dedicated to Ammavaaru, and her exceptional stage presence reflected her growing talent as an emcee, earning praise from the audience.
The celebration also featured an authentic Telangana dinner, thoughtfully prepared by Yuva Eats, led by Chandra Garu and Ramya Garu. Devotees also contributed a variety of prasadam, adding to the spirit of sharing and devotion. The delicious traditional food was enjoyed by everyone in attendance and became one of the highlights of the evening.
Nearly 500 attendees gathered for this grand celebration, patiently waiting for their opportunity to offer Harathi to Mahankali Ammavaaru, participate in the pooja, enjoy the cultural performances, and share a meal together. The overwhelming participation and devotion made the event a memorable celebration of Telangana’s cultural heritage in Kansas City.
The successful execution of the 9th Annual Bonalu Celebration was made possible through the tireless efforts and dedicated leadership of KCTCA President Mr. Shravan Padur, whose relentless commitment ensured the smooth planning and execution of every aspect of the event. He was ably supported by the Executive Committee members Abhishek, Sudhakar, Shyam, Nikhil, Mahathi, Rohit, Sreeja, Sreepoola, Hemanth, Uday, Lakshmi, Shailaja, Srilath, Anusha, Venu, Sreekanth, and Kiran.
Special thanks are also extended to the volunteers Kiran, Nitheesh, and Vijay for their valuable contributions throughout the event. The celebration was further strengthened by the guidance and support of Founding Member Raj Cheedella, whose continued encouragement and vision have helped KCTCA grow into a vibrant community organization.
The festivities concluded at approximately 9:00 PM on a joyful and spiritually fulfilling note. With the divine blessings of Sri Mahankali Ammavaaru, the KCTCA 9th Annual Bonalu Celebration once again demonstrated the organization’s commitment to preserving Telangana’s rich traditions, strengthening community bonds, and passing on its cultural heritage to future generations.
