The Kansas City South Asian community is invited to an important health and wellness event this summer: Play It Safe, Kansas City! — an online session led by Dr. Bala Somayaji, MD, Infectious Disease Physician at Saint Luke’s. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, June 4, 2026, 7:00–8:00 PM CST, and join from the comfort of your home as Dr. Somayaji guides the community through what it means to stay healthy, informed, and prepared as Kansas City gears up to host FIFA World Cup matches.

Dr. Somayaji brings decades of infectious disease expertise to this conversation. A graduate of Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College, she completed her residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and her fellowship in Infectious Disease at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Affiliated with Saint Luke’s South Hospital and Saint Luke’s East Hospital, she is known among patients and peers for her ability to break down complex medical topics with clarity and care. The session will cover six key topics: what infectious disease is and how it spreads, emerging infectious diseases, public health response during the World Cup, travel-related outbreaks, community preparedness, and practical infection prevention strategies — everything you need to know heading into a summer of global gatherings.
