The India Association of Kansas City (IAKC), in collaboration with AAPI-GKC (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin – Greater Kansas City), is hosting Obesity & Diabetes Care 2.0: Lifestyle, Nutrition & New Drug Therapies on Saturday, May 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Central Resource Library, 9875 W 87th St, Overland Park, KS 66212. This free community health forum brings together a distinguished panel of medical professionals to offer evidence-based insight into some of today’s most talked-about topics in weight management and metabolic health.
The session will be moderated by internist Dr. Bakul Sangani and feature a multidisciplinary panel including endocrinologists Dr. Bhavika Bhan, Dr. Vaishali Patel, and Dr. Mini Abraham; registered dietitian Dr. Swarna Mandali; pharmacist Dr. Sivani Gadiraju; and physical therapist Dr. Sonia Rawal. Together, they will break down how newer weight loss medications like Ozempic work in the body, who they are designed for, what the benefits and risks look like, and what common misconceptions the public should be aware of — alongside practical guidance on nutrition, lifestyle, and holistic diabetes care.
