Sewa Diwali: Illuminating Kansas City Through Service
KCdesi Joins Hands with Sewa Diwali: Illuminating Kansas City Through Service
The glow of Diwali shines brightest when it reaches beyond our homes. This year, KCdesi proudly joins the national Sewa Diwali movement—a collective effort uniting Indian-American organizations, temples, and community groups to fight hunger and serve humanity.
Founded on the simple belief that Service to Humanity is Service to Divinity, Sewa Diwali channels the festive spirit of giving into tangible action. Volunteers across the country collect non-perishable food items for local pantries, helping families who struggle to put meals on the table. Since its beginning in 2018, Sewa Diwali has donated millions of pounds of food through hundreds of participating communities nationwide.
Here in Kansas City, the campaign unites temples, cultural centers, and community partners—including The Art of Living, the Hindu Temple of Kansas City, M.U.F.F.I.N., SMAP, Royal Spices, and KCdesi—under one shared mission of compassion. From canned pasta to breakfast bars, peanut butter, and macaroni & cheese, every item collected brings light to another household.
KCdesi takes immense pride in being part of this effort. For over two decades we’ve worked to connect and uplift the Indian community in the Kansas City Metro. Through Sewa Diwali, that purpose extends outward—to serve the city we call home.
Together, let us celebrate Diwali by spreading light where it is needed most.
