Record number of BV students named National Merit semifinalists

Blue Valley students are still the ones breaking records and achieving at unprecedented levels! Today, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced 58 Blue Valley seniors were named National Merit semifinalists. This number sets a district record and is the most semifinalists in a Kansas school district this year.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for scholarships, the semifinalists must fulfill several requirements and advance to the finalist round of the competition.

The semifinalists represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Semifinalists from Blue Valley are:
