Your home is a tangible asset, which consistently becomes more valuable over time. During times where inflation is significantly high, a home is a good investment and is a hedge against inflation. Why? The interest earned in savings is almost always less than inflation.
Saraswati Puja is a Hindu festival celebrated in honor of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, and arts. This puja is particularly popular among students, as it is believed that worshipping Goddess Saraswati brings blessings of knowledge, wisdom, and success in academic pursuits.
The celebration of Saraswati Puja usually takes place on the fifth day of the Hindu month of Magh, which falls in January or February according to the Gregorian calendar. It is an important festival not only in India but also in Nepal, Bangladesh, and other countries with a significant Hindu population.
The process of celebrating Saraswati Puja involves several rituals and customs that vary from place to place. However, some of the common traditions followed during this puja are:
- The preparation of the altar: A small altar is set up in a clean and well-ventilated room, and a clay or wooden idol of Goddess Saraswati is placed on it. The idol is decorated with flowers, garlands, and other offerings, and a lamp is lit in front of it.
- The puja ceremony: The puja ceremony begins with the chanting of mantras and the offering of prayers to Goddess Saraswati. This is followed by the offering of various items such as fruits, sweets, and flowers to the deity.
- The aarti: The aarti is a ritual in which a lamp or a diya is lit and circled around the idol of the deity while singing hymns and devotional songs. This is done to seek the blessings of the goddess.
- The distribution of prasad: After the puja ceremony, the prasad or the blessed offerings are distributed among the devotees. This prasad is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
- The cultural programs: Many people also organize cultural programs such as music and dance performances during the celebration of Saraswati Puja. These programs are held to pay tribute to the goddess and to showcase the artistic talents of the community.
Celebrating Saraswati Puja is not just a religious ritual, but it is also a way of seeking blessings and guidance from the goddess. It is a way of paying respects to the deity and seeking her blessings for success and prosperity in one’s endeavors. By participating in the puja and following the customs and traditions associated with it, one can not only show devotion to the goddess but also inculcate a sense of discipline, responsibility, and cultural values in one’s life.
